At Caterpillar Corner we believe that children learn best in an environment which has a balance of structure and free choice activities. We will provide a wide range of hands-on activities that encourage children to experiment with science, math, language, reading, music, and art. Blocks, books, toys, puzzles, manipulatives, games, etc. are available to the children during class time. During the course of a day, the children will have the opportunity to participate in free choice activities, small group collaboration, and whole group teacher-directed time.
The objectives for all lesson plans and
activities will be taken from the
Arizona State Standards for Early Learning, which
are a set of skills that the state board of education anticipates each child
entering kindergarten will have obtained. A copy of the guidelines is available

8:45-9:00- Circle time/Calendar/Music & Movement
9:00-9:30- Language Arts (Whole group and Centers)
9:30-10:00- Math (Also Whole group and centers)
10:00-10:30- Snack/Gross Motor (indoor/outdoor as weather permits)
10:30-11:00- Science/ Social Studies/Arts and Crafts/Fine Motor
11:00-11:15- Closing procedures/Packing up
11:15-11:30- Read Aloud
11:30- Dismissal
